Together they will learn the values of teamwork, co-operation, trust and creativity, all whilst engaging and challenging their physical expression. Our young performers will learn how they can utilize their imaginations to create large structures, like robots, ships, and buildings with only their bodies! Our young performers will have the opportunity to engage their bodies in a rhythmic manner creating dynamic movement sequences and will even try some stage combat. All of these skills will be an excellent addition to our performance skills set and will properly prepare us for our end of cycle show case and future productions.
The Art of Physical Theatre
In this challenging and energetic cycle our young performers will delve into the world of Physical Theatre. Physical Theatre has been around since the beginning of theatre and since then has taken on a new life in modern and avant-garde theatre pieces across the world. Our young performers will learn the various styles of Physical Theatre and how to apply these techniques to their own unique theatre creations. The young performers will take inspiration from professional Physical Theatre Companies such as, DV8 Theatre Company and Frantic Assembly Theatre Company and try to apply their discipline and creativity to their own works. This cycle will allow the group of young performers to develop as a theatre ensemble as it will elicit strong teamwork skills, trust and creativity. Throughout the cycle our young performers will learn how their physical expression can transcend the realm of Physical Theatre and be applied in all aspects of their acting and performances.
